1. Basic Concepts

Chess is played on a chessboard,which has 64 fields,eight fields in each row.Both players have 16 pieces on the board to take up the position .Figures opponents are aranged symmetrically.From left to right figures occupy the home position:rook,knight,bishop,queen,king,second bishop,second knight and second rook.Pawns are located in front on of the board.First move has white,and moves are performed alternately.Objective of the game is to checkmate the other player.
